Information about Being in a Research Study

Description of the Study and Your Part in It

Daniel Chadborn (Instructor at Southeastern Louisiana University in the Department of Psychology and graduate student at Texas A&M University-Commerce) and Dr. Stephen Reysen (associate professor at A&M-Commerce) are inviting you to take part in a research study.

The purpose of this research is to assess how individuals interact and engage with their fan interests. There are no right or wrong answers to any of the questions; it is your opinion that interests us. Your part in the study will be to give your opinion about yourself. It will take you less than 30 minutes to complete this study.

Risks and Discomforts

There are minimal risks to participating in this research, however these do not pose any more risk than those a person would experience in everyday life. If you feel uncomfortable with any question you may skip the question and move on.

Possible Benefits

While your participation may not specifically benefit you, we believe it will improve our general understanding of human attitudes and judgment.

Incentives

For your time and participation in this survey, you will be eligible to enter your email into a draw for the chance to win one of several $50 gift certificates to Amazon.com (your odds of winning the gift card are based on the number of entries and are estimated at 1 in 200). Your email entry will not be linked to your responses in any way to preserve your anonymity.

Protection of Privacy and Confidentiality

All information you provide is completely confidential and anonymous as you are not asked for your name or any identifying information. All responses will be downloaded from Qualtrics and saved on password-protected computers located in the psychology department at Southern Louisiana University and A&MCommerce. Information and the anonymous data provided will remain confidential and will be stored indefinitely on secure, password-protected computers to which only the authorized researchers have access.
